Making America's water crisis legible.
AGUACYCLE tracks how the United States is responding to a deepening water crisis — state by state, city by city. As drought, groundwater depletion, and aging infrastructure strain traditional supplies, communities are increasingly turning to water recycling and reuse. We make that shift legible.
What we do
We maintain water profiles for every U.S. state and a growing set of cities, explainers on the major water issues, and data-driven analysis connecting the dots. Our goal is to be the clearest, most useful reference on American water reuse — for utility leaders, planners, journalists, students, and curious residents alike.
How to read our data
Many of the indicators on this site — per-capita use, reuse percentages, drought levels, and supply-stress trends — are illustrative figures assembled for orientation. They are meant to help you understand relative pressures and direction, not to serve as official or regulatory measurements. For authoritative numbers, we point to primary sources throughout, including the USGS, EPA, NOAA, the U.S. Drought Monitor, and the Bureau of Reclamation.
Work with us
We partner with utilities, agencies, and firms working on water reuse. If you have a project, a question, or a story tip, we want to hear from you.
